Associate Specialist - Black Lab

The Cardiovascular Research Institute at University of California, San Francisco is seeking an Associate Specialist.

Duties include:

• Independently design and oversee the execution of laboratory research projects related to the craniofacial development and skeletal muscle biology.
• Clone and analyze enhancer elements in transgenic zebrafish and mouse models.
• Conduct DNA binding assays (EMSA) to analyze protein-DNA interactions.
• Conduct mouse, zebrafish, and cell culture assays to study Endothelin signaling and its pathway components and their functions in craniofacial development.
• Conduct assays to study GPCR signaling.
• Play a leading role in writing papers on craniofacial development and Endothelin signaling.
• Teach laboratory personnel in techniques related to transgenesis in zebrafish and analysis of histology and gene expression data.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
• Expertise with transgenic mice and transgenic zebrafish required.
• Expertise in craniofacial development required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in Biological Sciences/Cell Biology/Developmental biology or closely related discipline.
• Advanced knowledge of craniofacial and skeletal biology.
• Advanced knowledge of transcriptional regulation and transcriptional control pathways.
• Knowledge about Endothelin signaling pathway components.
• Detailed knowledge about MEF2-dependent gene regulatory networks.
• Understanding of GPCR signaling.
• History of first author publications.
